FAQs
What is DermaPen
The Dermapen™ is an FDA-approved electronic device that offers a new option for clients wanting to get rid of the embarrassment of acne scarring and wrinkles. The Dermapen™ offers a safe, comfortable and effective alternative to laser resurfacing. The Dermapen™ is indicated for all skin types, and when performed in a series, provides great results with little to no down time.
The Dermapen™ treatment uses multiple needles that vertically pierce the skin in rapid succession. This action helps promote epidermal healing which is the primary function needed for collagen stimulation, fibroblast creation and the growth of elastin fibers. The automatic vibrating function of the Dermapen™ increases the effectiveness of treatment by increasing absorption of products, while reducing pain and discomfort.
how does it work?
Dermapen's advanced vertical skin needling technology uses multiple needles that vertically pierce the skin with an automatic vibrating function. When moved across the skin's surface it creates fine channels in the skin, stimulating natural collagen reproduction.
The channels can carry up to 80% more topical nutrients, allowing for treatment delivery deep into the skin's fibroblasts to feed the underlying cells found in the dermis and basal layer.
This increased absorption of the active ingredients into the skin creates stimulated repair and faster resurfacing results. Advanced vertical skin needling promotes scar-less healing and the regeneration of normal woven collagen, similar to fractional laser treatments but without the side effects or downtime. It's also more effective than most microdermabrasion and chemical peels.
Does it hurt?
The Dermapen uses very fine needles and is relatively comfortable. A topical numbing cream is applied prior to the treatment to optimize comfort during the procedure.
is there any down-time after the treatment?
There is redness and very minimal bleeding. You will look slightly sunburned for 24 hours following the treatment. There is minimal social down time, usually 1-2 days, depending on your body's response to the treatment.
How many treatments before I see results?
Improvement is seen with each treatment, but a series of 3-6 treatments is best to achieve optimal results.
Dermapen treatments can be repeated every 4 weeks.
What does it cost?
The cost is $185 per session, or $950 for a series of 6 sessions
